Browser Permissions
In this article, you will find useful information about what browsers can be used for virtual catchups and how to allow access to your microphone and camera so that you can join virtual catchups.
*Each device performs differently and may display virtual catchups in a different view. To ensure your messaging and video on your device work correctly we ask you to check you are using the latest software versions on your devices*
Supported Browsers
- Chrome
- Firefox
- Safari
- iOS Safari
- Android Chrome
*If your supported browser is not listed for your computer/tablet but you have a smartphone device you may try using it to connect with a Virtual Catchup
Android Chrome
- On your Android device, open the Chrome app .
- To the right of the address bar, tap More (triple dots) > Settings.
- Tap Site Settings.
- Tap Microphone or Camera.
- Tap to turn the microphone or camera on or off.
- Refresh the Chrome Browser
If prompted press allow to accept the permissions for the microphone and camera
iOS Safari
- Open the Settings app
- Tap on Safari > Camera
- Scroll down to Camera & Microphone
- Confirm that "Ask" or "Allow" is checked
- Retry the "Refresh the call" steps, above.
Click on Safari window you are trying to use the camera and microphone for, press the refresh arrow/circle
A pop up should appear asking for permission, press allow
Computer Browser - Chrome
- Click the camera icon — in your browsers address bar, top right
- Make sure that "Always allow" is selected
- Click done
- Refresh your browser
MacOS
macOS Mojave and later released a security setting that requires you to grant the operating system camera and microphone permissions, under System Preferences.
IMPORTANT: You must grant each browser camera/mic access.
Give camera and mic access
- Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Camera.
- Click the box next to the browser you're using. It'll quit and reopen your browser.
- Do the same for Systems Preferences > Privacy > Microphone.
